What If Mothers Ruled The World?
Hush Research and Strategy are specialists in researching the topic of parenting and motherhood. They came to us wanting to explore the topic from new perspectives…
This short documentary, filmed on the streets of Stockport in October 2025 combines the art of asking qualitative questions with contemporary documentary practices. The approach, the question, the setting, the camera, the microphone and the researchers conspire to create the conditions that allow people’s just-below-the-surface inner monologues to rise to the fore. The question “what if mothers ruled the world?” invites people to imagine alternative realities and reflect deeply on their lives, identities, values and society on a busy, diverse British high street.
The film has been screened at a cinema in Stockport where members of the public as well as researchers and strategist joined in a discussion, reflecting on the film and the question.

Navigating uncertainty: how ethnography helped people living with a rare disease
We have been working with XLH UK, using ethnography to build a better understanding of people's experiences of living with the rare disease XLH (X-linked Hypophosphatemia). The 4 videos and photo-book we produced were submitted as evidence to NICE and helped our client to successfully campaign for the approval of funding for a new breakthrough drug for adults on the NHS.
This work was shortlist as a finalist for both the AQR Excellence Award 2025 and the ICG Award 2025 as part of the Market Research Society Awards.
